Hello everyone, this is Hardik Dahiwale of class 3 D sharing an experience about my visit to RED FORT.
I had read a little about the Red Fort and was curious to see it in real life as it has been a witness to a lot of historical moments.
In the month of February 2022, my father arranged a trip to visit Red Fort in Delhi. My Mummy, Papa, my younger brother and I went to Delhi by Rajdhani express. Next day, in the morning, we reached at Nizamuddin railway station around 9 am and went to my uncle’s home at Shahadara. After some rest, we freshened up and justify for Red Fort by tourist vehicle. We reached the Red Fort at 1:30 pm. The Red Fort is located in the heart of Delhi.
ROYAL ENTRY TO RED FORT:
We entered the Fort through Lahori gate which is the main entrance of the Fort. The gate got its name as it is oriented towards Lahore.
Every year, our Prime minister hoists the National Flag on Independence Day at Lahori gate.We took a photograph near Lahori gate. My mother told me about the history of Red Fort.
RED FORT HISTORY:
The Red Fort was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan during 1648.When he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi, he commissioned construction of this magnificent fort. It was to be used as the residence of the Mughal Emperor. The Red Fort was originally known as ‘Quila-e-Mubarak’ meaning “theblessedfort”.
RED FORT ARCHITECTURE:
The local guide added information about its architecture. The fort which is spread over 255 acres, features an interesting mix of architectural styles such as Islamic, Hindu and Persian. Its massive 2.5 km long enclosing walls are made of red sand stone and that’s where the monument got its name from. My brother and me played inside the fort and enjoyed a lot.
Two chief chambers of the fort were Diwan-e-aam and Diwan-e-khas; we just enjoyed the look from outside.
RED FORT TODAY:
Today, the red fort is one of the top tourist places in Delhi. In 2007 the Red Fort was included in the list of UNESCO World heritage sites in Delhi for its architectural splendor and historical significance. The property is now under the control of Archeological survey of India.
After wandering a lot in the lush greenery of the fort , we sat down for some snacks. There was a small eatery outlet. We enjoyed ‘Chole Bhature’, the most famous dish of Delhi, and that was very delicious. Outside the fort, we also did some shopping . Then we started the return journey to our home.
Really it was a pleasant experience. Besides, the visit enhanced our knowledge about this great historical place and our rich culture and tradition. I must say you should also visit RedFort.
