The former Governor of Bihar, Tripura & West Bengal, and recipient of the prestigious Padmashree Award, Dr. D. Y. Patil is a well-known educationist and philanthropist. He firmly believed that youth in India needed a greater platform that offered multiple opportunities to educate themselves across geographies. He envisioned spreading education across the length and breadth of India and started the journey with the first engineering college called Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT) in Navi Mumbai in the year 1983. There has been no turning back since with the DY Patil Group taking giant leaps in the fields of education, healthcare & sports under his mentorship.
