Curriculum

“Student life is the seed of your life. Plant it wisely.”

At Dnyanpushpa Vidya Niketan (DPVN), we believe that quality education builds the foundation for lifelong learning, confidence and success. As a school offering CBSE-based education in Navi Mumbai, DPVN follows a curriculum aligned with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

Our approach to education combines academic excellence, innovative teaching methodologies and practical learning experiences. We aim to nurture curious minds, encourage independent thinking and equip students with the knowledge, skills and values needed to navigate real-world challenges.

Guided by the rich educational legacy of the Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, DPVN is committed to making quality education accessible and meaningful for every learner. Through modern technology, interactive classrooms and innovative educational practices, we prepare students for a rapidly evolving world.

Our focus extends beyond academic achievement to include creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and responsible citizenship. We strive to create a supportive learning environment where every child can discover their potential and develop into a confident, capable and compassionate individual.

Highlights of DPVN

DPVN promotes a learner-centric approach that supports academic growth, personal development and practical skill-building. Our educational practices are designed to make learning engaging, meaningful and relevant to everyday life.

National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 introduces a comprehensive framework for transforming school and higher education in India. It emphasises flexible learning, conceptual understanding, multidisciplinary education and the development of practical skills.

At DPVN, our educational approach supports the broader goals of meaningful learning, student engagement and holistic development. NEP 2020 encourages a shift from rote memorisation towards conceptual clarity, critical thinking, creativity and the practical application of knowledge.

The policy is guided by five foundational pillars: Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability.

Understanding the 5+3+3+4 Curriculum Structure

NEP 2020 proposes a new curricular and pedagogical structure of 5+3+3+4, designed around children’s developmental stages. It covers 12 years of schooling and three years of preschool education.

The structure includes:

  • Foundational Stage: 5 years, including 3 years of preschool and Classes 1–2.
  • Preparatory Stage: 3 years, covering Classes 3–5.
  • Middle Stage: 3 years, covering Classes 6–8.
  • Secondary Stage: 4 years, covering Classes 9–12.

This framework aims to make education more flexible, engaging and developmentally appropriate, while encouraging experiential and multidisciplinary learning.

New Curriculum Structure

The 5+3+3+4 structure supports age-appropriate learning and progression through different educational stages.

Assessment Pattern at DPVN

Assessment helps educators understand students’ progress, identify learning needs and strengthen academic performance. DPVN’s published assessment schedule should be presented clearly so parents and students can understand the examination structure.

Assessment
Duration
Term 1
April to September
Term 2
October to March

As per the school’s assessment guidelines, each term includes a unit test. Subject enrichment activities and class notebooks may also contribute to the assessment.

Attendance and Examination Requirements

Students are expected to maintain at least 75% attendance during the academic year, subject to the applicable school and board rules.

The minimum passing requirement of 33% mentioned in the school’s assessment guidelines should be verified against the applicable CBSE rules and the school’s current examination policy before publication.

At DPVN, we encourage regular attendance, consistent academic effort and active participation in classroom activities to support students’ learning and progress.
